Most of our Swannies range are made from premium, prescription-grade acetate.
Made from cotton fibers and wood pulp, acetate is a natural plastic that is a more natural alternative to BPA-based plastics and is also hypoallergenic, providing a more natural feel for your skin.
Strong, lightweight and flexible, acetate eyewear can be shaped and molded to your face for a perfect fit, or be readjusted if your frames become misshapen by heat or regular use. This is why acetate is the industry standard for premium eyewear and used by all the top eyewear brands.
However, because acetate is quite soft it can become uneven through extended wear and extreme temperatures.
If you find your glasses aren't sitting straight, the good news is your Swannies are perfectly ok!
We actually recommend that all customers take them to an optician or eyewear professional to be fitted immediately upon receiving them and as needed throughout their lifetime.
We’ve found that most large eyewear stores in the US, including the likes of Walmart, Target, Sears, JC Penny, and Dillards will do this for free.
We have also created an instructional video for carefully doing this yourself with a hairdryer: https://www.swanwicksleep.com/pages/acetate. This is a simple process and there is little risk of damaging your glasses, however if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
